I am a  researcher in English Education and Educational Linguistics, focusing on applications of Systemic Functional Linguistics for English composition in K-16. My dissertation examines the genre and linguistic features of student writing in secondary education in order to develop future curriculum and instructional models for composition education.

Toward a Genre Writing Curriculum: Schooling Genres in the Common Core State Standards for Writing
Develop set of schooling genre descriptions using SFL framework based on Appendix C student writing exemplars in the Common Core State Standards.

College Student Writing and Linguistic Features in Community College
Case study analysis of student writing development and achievement during participation in genre-based pedagogy first-year composition course in a community college.
