I recently submitted an abstract cowritten with a colleague to the Midwestern Modern Language Association Conference. Hoping we’ll be able to share some ideas on SFL for first-year college composition.
This week I will be helping with another collaborative project, working on a manuscript for a journal. I’ll also be getting a few ideas put together for the Purdue OWL ESL section. Looks to be a busy week.
Due to time constraints, I did not get very far in the poetry challenge. Maybe next year!
I recently presented at the OKI Regional TESOL Conference in Cincinnati with my colleague Marshall Klassen. Our presentation was on the new Common Core State Standards and ESL writing.
I am working on multiple research projects right now, hoping to put together two manuscripts for publication this summer, and looking forward to possibly presenting at MMLA.
Lastly, I just started work as a Content Developer for Purdue’s OWL! Looking forward to developing more language-centered content for the ESL section on writing for North American academic audiences.
I plan to keep this space updated each month to keep information up-to-date on my professional and academic work. Also feel free to connect with me at LinkedIn.
I will be co-presenting at the INTESOL Annual Conference on November 19, 2011. Dr. Luciana de Oliveira has organized a panel on teaching English Language Learners using various classroom strategies. I will be presenting a lesson on transitional devices I prepared and taught for a college ELL classroom.
